Hello! I am looking at getting an aftermarket steering wheel. I have settled on Personal in the 330mm diameter. I am curious about the Blitz, which is very inexpensive but uses polyurethane instead of leather.

Has anyone used polyurethane gripped wheel? How does it wear? Is it comfortable?

Honestly, just go the extra mile and get a Momo.

A steering wheel will have your hands on it for many many miles.

Buying a cheap steering wheel is like buying a cheap mattress, don't fucking do it.

You do know Personal is made by Nardi, right? Both Personal and Nardi are made in Italy. Momo is very nice though, but they really only do a 320 or 350mm wheel.

there is only one wheel used in my family on a non air bag car

and its the Chevy 3 spoke Comfort grip

Kinja'd!!!

My 68 has the wood grain version

only car in the family that doesn't follow the patter is out custom it has the huge 59 Chevy Impala wheel.

I personally the harder plastic wheels over something with a rubber grip, mainly because that rubber on the wheel will wear off and eventually look like garbage.

Yes, but if I'm correct. Personal is a cheaper line, no? The Blitz steering wheels were always a manger special to me...

If polyurethane is anything like the synthetic Mercedes uses, which I think it is, or old-timey rubberized bakelite or vinyl, should be just fine.

Yeah, Personal is their budget line.

Haha. Yeah, the name Blitz didn't inspire confidence.

Cool. I am just looking for a cost effective and safe way to gain more leg room for my 6'5" frame in the Miata.

Thanks!

In this same boat (I'm 6' 4"). I've been dreaming of a nardi 330, but can't spend what would amount to 500 for the wheel, adapter, spacer, etc. Sorry, no advice on the Personal Wheel though. How about this?:

You started me looking at wheels, damn you! I am assuming these are all chinese knock offs, but check this out. That momo I would definately rock.

I wouldn't know what to do with a leather wheel if I had one. Benz: skinned sort of in a vinyl, Rover: rubberized bakelite, Ranchero: ditto, my old VW: some kind of plastic.

Looks nice, but I don't trust knock-offs.

You'd be all the rage at the cars & coffee, with your custom gumby steering wheel!

I have a Personal Grinta 330mm in perforated leather on my '92 Miata, and I LOVE IT! The leather feels and wears great, over 2 years, 20,000 miles and still looks like new. I wouldn't say Personal is Nardi's "budget" brand, if anything, it's their racing brand.

I don't know how their poly wheels feel, but spend the additional $100 and get the leather, you won't regret it!
